To Trust or Not to Trust: A Poem

"To be or not to be

That is the question"

But now, with cries filling the night air

The question seems to have changed.

"To trust or not to trust."

There is no option to "be"

People who won't look past other peoples' skin

Don't take a second to think

To trust or not to trust?

People feel threatened by biased bullies

Don't have a second to think

To trust or not to trust?

How can they choose o be?

The option is for the one in control

The deciding factor

Who can end it all in a moment

End a human being's life in a moment

No remorse

No regret

It might've been avoided

Had they asked,

"To trust or not to trust?"

People are not animals

No matter what you think

All lives are important

So stop and take a moment

To realize

That no matter someone's color, height, weight,

People can hurt you

Regardless of how they look

Regardless of how they dress

Regardless of how they talk

There are bad people in thee world

There always will be

But the way to limit violence

Is to trust each other--unity
